Halloween Has Officially Commenced!

Hello! I would love to highlight some of my outside-of-class activities, and there’s no other time of the year when I’m busier than the Halloween season. I love the festivities of paying to get scared, the decorations people can go all out on, and, of course, dressing up! Outside of 2D design, I love creating and challenging myself with 3D crafts. In high school, I took both AP Drawing and AP 3D Design on a whim during my senior year, and it provided a great balance with my regular classes. First up, we have my costume from my birthday! Can you guess what I am?

A Zombie!!

It was so fun to create my hair clips for the look. If you can’t tell, I made an oozing brain, a couple of bones, a skull, a zombie finger, and some eyeballs for my bows! It was so much fun to visit Other World in full body paint, too. I made all my clips from air-dry clay, paint, and gloss Mod Podge! Then, I bought some plain, bulk hair clips, super-glued them on– and voila! Zombie hair clips!

Tomie!

My next look was Tomie from Junji Ito! I had an idea spark in my head to try and challenge myself to make a double face, and apparently it turned out pretty well! I took a regular papermache mask, cut out the side of it to accommodate my face contour, and molded more of my own features into the nose, lips, and eyelids from cotton pads and liquid latex! Then, I base colored it a darker brown, then shade matched the next day while it was still light outside. For extra effect, I added a septum piercing from wire, a cotton pad for the eye, and eyelashes and lipstick! It scared so many people that night lol!
